Continuing Education (CE) is an educational system which helps keep a dental assistant’s skills current, encourages professional growth, and increases value to their employers and patients. This program is an important component in ensuring that each health care profession is credible, useful, and respected within the health care field, and trusted by the public.
Our association is constantly seeking out and offering CE opportunities for Manitoba dental assistants. It is the responsibility of all dental assistants to take advantage of these educational offerings. Every dental assistant has the responsibility to assess their own performance and to maintain their competence.
The Manitoba Dental Association (MDA) has established continuing education requirements for the ongoing certification of registered dental assistants. A dental assistant must obtain a minimum of 36 credit hours during a three-year cycle. Credit hours in excess of this requirement cannot be carried forward to a subsequent three-year cycle.
